Lizbeth Dávila Santiago says she feels proud to be an Afro-Boricua woman scientist serving the public university. “Listening to the needs [of others] and creating solutions based on those needs, I think that is the definition of science. And as a scientist, I understand there are few scientists who have that connection. I feel that’s really missing, and it’s missing in academia as well.”
